Sav-A-Life’s Bottle Drive
Sav-A-Life Pregnancy Center’s Baby Bottle Drive will be going on throughout the month of May. Empty baby bottles are available for pick-up at the Information Table. May Outreach Events
- Saturday, May 14 “Loaves Ministry” This is a monthly event. We’ll be packing sack lunches (sandwich, chips, and cookie or brownie) to take to folks in the ICU waiting room at Decatur General. We will also provide a tray of sandwiches or pot of soup etc. and a dessert for the nurses working in ICU. We will meet at the church at 10:45 a.m. to pack the lunches. There is a sign-up sheet at the Information Table to help with the sack lunches. Anyone interested in volunteering to prepare something for the nurses see Tammy Benton.
The C.C.C. is in need of children’s underwear. We will be having a drive to meet this need during the month of May. A bin is available at the Information Table for you to place your donations.
Mother’s Day Breakfast
All mothers are invited to join us in the Activity Room during Sunday School Sunday, May 8 at 9:00 a.m. for breakfast. We would love to celebrate your roles as mothers. Please sign-up at the Information Table.
During the Month of May, the Deacon body will be taking recommendations/nominations for Deacons to serve for three years starting in August. We will be replacing six deacons that will be rotating off. The nomination forms and collection box are located at the welcome center. Please prayerfully consider who you will nominate to serve taking in consideration information listed on the form. If you have any questions please see Aaron King or any actively serving Deacon (listed on form).
The preschool department is in need of people who can serve as substitutes to help care for our children during both hours on Sunday. We need substitutes more often during the service, but occasionally our regular Sunday School teachers and helpers are out too. You would not have to prepare a lesson. We just need people to help watch classes when the scheduled volunteers cannot be there. Any extra help would be greatly appreciated!
Upcoming Youth Events
The youth will be partnering with First Baptist Orange Beach for the VBS Day Camp called Camp O.B. Outfitters. The dates are June 4-11. This is a fantastic trip to go on. It is a lot of hard work but it is very rewarding as well. We stay at the church for free so that helps keep the cost down for us. The cost is only $75 and a small amount of money for a few meals. This is open to all youth and college students. Any students or adults that are interested in going please see Bubba. We need people to go that can lead a VBS class as well as others that can help with classes.
We will be going to Bonne Terre, Missouri for World Changers July 11-16. This is a mission summer camp and it will involve many different opportunities to serve. This will be similar to Mission Fuge. The cost will be $160 and a $50 is due by June 5. Any one that signs up and pays the $50 deposit by May 15 will receive a $30 discount.
AWANA will resume this Wednesday, May 11, at 6:00 p.m.
