COMMUNITY OUTREACH PROJECTS

In conjunction with the Sunday night service classes that will be starting March 11, we are going to be involved in several community outreach projects, some of which need donated items in order to be successful. In February and March, we will be collecting food and clothing for the NCC to help with their current urgent needs. Also in March, we will be collecting items to make care packages for children visiting the emergency rooms at Decatur General and Parkway Hospitals. Items needed for this project are books, coloring books, small packs of crayons, stickers, cartoon band aids, and anything they would be used to entertain children with while sitting in the waiting room or in the hospital bed waiting on the doctor.  In April, we will be collecting items to make Mother’s Day gift bags to give to the NCC. The NCC in turn will give them to needy children to give to their mothers for Mother’s Day. Also in April, we will be collecting items for the Alabama Baptist Children’s Home. A collection bin with a list of needed items for each project will be available outside of the Activity Room. This is a long list of needed supplies. If you are not able to contribute to every project, select the one most dear to your heart, and give to that one. Everyone giving a little will add up to a successful outreach project.

STAGES: BUILDING FAITHFUL FAMILIES

Stages is a one-day conference for our entire Christian community. Our goal with Stages is to encourage our people that no matter their age, phase in life, or family dynamic, they have a unique and vital role in the growth of our Family. We truly believe God has called each church family to a purpose, as well as a collective purpose within our community, and we need to be fluid in all areas of ministry to succeed in this calling. This year’s Stages Event will be held on Sunday, March 4, at 5:30pm. We are excited to welcome Jeff Slaughter, Stuart Henslee, Dr. Jere Patterson and Bronson Stewart to join us for this exciting time of family development.

ANNIE ARMSTRONG EASTER OFFERING

In 1895, the first missions offering to benefit the work of home missions (now known as North American missions) was promoted and taken up by Woman’s Missionary Union (WMU). The Home Mission Board (now known as North American Mission Board) asked for $5,000 toward its work. WMU efforts exceeded that goal. From that start to today, more than $1 billion has been raised for North American mission efforts. Every dollar of the offering (named after missions advocate/WMU leader, Annie Armstrong, in 1936) goes to missionaries and their work of sharing the life-transforming gospel of Jesus Christ throughout the United States, Canada, and their territories. The national goal this year is $70 million, with our church goal being $6,000.
