LOTTIE MOON CHRISTMAS OFFERING 2017

Beginning in 1888, the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering was established to empower the international missions effort for Southern Baptists.  After more than a century, the annual offering continues its steady growth.  The national goal this year is $160,000,000.  Our goal locally as a church is $8,000.  Your giving enables missionaries to be sent to make disciples and multiply churches among unreached people groups and places for the glory of God.  This offering provides approximately half what is needed to maintain over 4,000 missionaries around the world.  The remaining half of the budget is given monthly through Cooperative Program Funds by each cooperating Southern Baptist Church.  The church has  received $1,488.54 thus far in offerings.

BACKPACK MINISTRY

I will never forget the first time a child in the halls, who was in line with his class, pointed to the bags of food I was delivering and said to his friend, “that’s my bag of food for this weekend!”  He was smiling and excited to find out what kind of goodies he would receive!  Wow!  I knew how important the Backpack Ministry is to the kids at FNES, but to see first-hand the impact was humbling.  Please take a moment this week to donate to this important ministry or buy a few items on the list at the Information Table.—Gary Bruner
