Our students will be selling tickets for the luncheon so please find one of them to get your ticket for lunch!! The cost of the lunch is $6.00 per person.  In 1895, the first missions offering to benefit the work of home missions (now known as North American missions) was promoted and taken up by Woman’s Missionary Union (WMU). The Home Mission Board (now known as North American Mission Board) asked for $5,000 toward its work. WMU efforts exceeded that goal. From that start to today, more than $1 billion has been raised for North American mission efforts. Every dollar of the offering (named after missions advocate/WMU leader, Annie Armstrong, in 1936) goes to missionaries and their work of sharing the life-transforming gospel of Jesus Christ throughout the United States, Canada, and their territories. The national goal this year is $70 million, with our church goal being $6,000. The church has collected $2,065.00 thus far toward the Annie Armstrong Easter Offering.

On Saturday, April 7 at 10 am, we will be having our Spring ladies luncheon.  Tickets will be on sale in March for $10 each.  Table themes will be Season and Decades, and we will have different ladies from our church giving their testimonies—one from each “decade” (20’s to 70’s).  There is a sign-up sheet at the Information Table if you are interested in decorating a table or attending.

Registration is now open for all our Promiseland families and also any Parkview families that would like to join us for our 2018-2019 school year. Registration is now open to the public. 2018 Camp Promiseland registration is also open. We enjoyed having several Parkview kids join us last year and hope to have them back this year. Registration paperwork for both can be found at the kids check-in counters and at the guest services desk.

Frances Nungester Elementary School would like us to provide candy filled Easter eggs for their students the last week in March. If you can make a donation of either eggs, candy, or both, please put it in the FNES/Backpack Ministry box located outside the Activity Room. March 25 will be the last day to make a donation. If you have any questions please see Mary Laney.

  • The director for Decatur’s Relay for Life cancer fundraiser has asked us to help serve at the Survivor Dinner that will be held at Ingalls Harbor, Tuesday, April 3 and to man the Survivor Tent at the Relay for Life Walk at Ingalls Harbor, Friday, May 4. They have also requested cookie donations for both events. There is also a sign-up sheet at the Information Table for cookies and servers for the April dinner. A sign-up sheet will be on the Information Table for the Relay walk in May in a few weeks. Serving at the dinner only takes a couple hours of your time. The meal is catered, the caterers plate the food and the servers take the plates to the tables, and clear them as people finish eating. Servers also keep drinks filled during the meal. It’s very easy and the guests are always very appreciative of your help. Please contact Tammy Benton with any questions.
  • Also this month, we will be collecting items to make care packages for children visiting the emergency rooms at Decatur General and Parkway Hospitals. Items needed for this project are books, coloring books, small packs of crayons, stickers, cartoon band aids, and anything that would be used to entertain children with while sitting in the waiting room or in the hospital bed waiting on the doctor.
  • In April, we will be collecting items to make Mother’s Day gift bags to give to the NCC. The NCC in turn will give them to needy children to give to their mothers for Mother’s Day.
  • Also in April, we will be collecting items for the Alabama Baptist Children’s Home. A collection bin with a list of needed items for each project will be available outside of the Activity Room. This is a long list of needed supplies. If you are not able to contribute to every project, select the one most dear to your heart, and give to that one. Everyone giving a little will add up to a successful outreach project.

The Pastor Search Committee would like to thank you for your prayers and encouragement during this time. We ask that you continue to pray for the committee, the church, and the man God will call to our church. The Search Committee has put together a congregational survey. The survey will be used as a tool to gather data only and the results will not be published.  We ask that you prayerfully complete the survey. You can return completed surveys to the box that will be located at the Welcome Center.  We would like all surveys to be returned no later than Sunday, April 1. If you have any questions, please see one of the search committee members.
