Community and Church-Wide Ministries

Men's Ministry

This ministry is open to all men. It’s goal is to use fellowship, bible study, prayer, and accountability to develop men of God capable of leading the church in its pursuit of the Kingdom of God. As iron sharpens iron, men of God are to help each other become all they can be.

Women’s Ministry

Women at the Well is through which women will journey together by connecting with other women of all ages and build lasting relationships, gain acceptance, and receive encouragement. At the Well women will mentor, discover God given gifts, and serve with love to reach others for Christ.

Sav-a-Life

Every May we fill baby bottles with change for Sav-a-Life as a fundraiser. We contribute financially to them every month in order to help with their expenses

The Home-Bound Ministry

Each Valentine’s Day we deliver roses and casseroles, soup, or chili to our widows and widowers, home-bound, and elderly church members. We also do casserole deliveries to our home-bound folks 2 or 3 other times a year.

We also have the “Adopt a Home-Bound” program. Each home-bound person is adopted by a family or class. The family or class is then able to visit, send a card, bring some goodies or whatever else makes the home-bound member feel appreciated and loved.

The Backpack Ministry

Frances Nungester is our “Sponsor School”. The principal  reaches out to us with any specific needs that the school, staff, or students may have. Volunteers help to provide snacks for teachers at various times, treats for the kids on holidays and after testing in the spring, or donations for events at the school. We also coordinate and provide a teacher lunch during teacher appreciation week in May.

The backpack ministry is such an awesome ministry that helps feed kids at Frances Nungester who may not have enough to eat at home over the weekend. We do not know who the bags go to each week, but for the past 6-7 years we have provided an average of 27-30 bags of food each week during the school year. Each bag consists of 10-11 food items to get kids through the weekend.  We are currently providing 27 bags each week for these kids. There is another church who also provides 27 bags, for a total of 54 bags. They each receive 2 breakfast items, 4 meal items (2 lunch, 2 dinner), and 4 snack items (2 for each day).

Here are some more ways you can get involved:
  • Weekly Reading Buddies
  • In School Mentors
  • Health Room Workers
  • Special Events
  • Meals for Teachers

The Loaves Ministry

We pack sack lunches (sandwich, chips, and cookie or brownie) to take to folks in the ICU waiting room at Decatur General once a month. We also provide a tray of sandwiches or pot of soup etc. and a dessert for the nurses working in ICU. Church volunteers pack the lunches every first Saturday of the month at 10:30. Being able to bring a nice warm meal to the hard-working nurses and the families struggling with sickness is a huge blessing.

 Hearts of Compassion

"Learn to do right! Seek justice, encourage the oppressed. Defend the cause of the fatherless, plead the case of the widow." - Isaiah 1:17 (NIV)

Hearts of Compassion is a ministry of Parkview Baptist Church that seeks to:

  • Educate the church and community about orphans, foster care, and adoption locally, nationally and internationally.
  • Provide information, encouragement and support for families who are called to adopt or foster.

We believe that hearts will be transformed through the compassion of Jesus as people learn about God’s heart for the fatherless. The Bible tells us we are to “..defend the cause of the fatherless..” (Is. 1:17 and Psalm 82:3).

The Hearts of Compassion Adoption Fund
